Nevado Sirijuani Climb
A rarely summited 5,359 meter peak in the Cordillera Urubamba, with 40-50 degree glacier ice and views over the Lares valleys into the Amazon Basin. Three days from Cusco, and a rewarding first glaciated summit for beginners.
The Objective
Nevado Sirijuani (also spelled Sirihuani) is a rarely summited mountain in the Urubamba mountain range. Although small relative to its 5,900 meter neighbor, Sahuasiray, it offers a perch with sublime views. When our founder, Matt, climbed it in 2025, he couldn't believe that so few people ever visit this mountain. It's a wonderful objective for beginners who are in the Cusco area or anyone who is interested in unconventional adventures.

Itinerary
Cusco or the Sacred Valley to Quiswarani
We'll pick you up from your hotel in either Cusco or the Sacred Valley and drive to a small village called Quiswarani. There we'll set up camp at our host family's home. We'll have time to rest, explore the area, and fit your personal equipment before dinner. Then we'll eat dinner and go to bed early.

Quiswarani to Base Camp
Wake up for breakfast at 7am, and then with the help of our porting staff, we'll carry our gear up 770 meters to base camp, directly below the East face of Nevado Sirijuani. Our camp is positioned to witness a beautiful sunset over the Amazon Basin. We'll have dinner and get ready for tomorrow's climb.

Summit Day and Return to Cusco
At 2am we'll wake up for a light breakfast, then get our gear together and leave by 3am. A couple of hours of walking and moderate rock scrambling lead us to the entrance of the glacier. We'll rope up and begin ascending 40/50-degree snow and ice. Some more walking and a short 50–60-degree snow slope leads up directly below the final summit rock band. In 15 minutes of easy class 2 scrambling, we'll arrive at the summit and enjoy the stunning views of the Cordillera Urubamba. We'll descend by the same route, pack up camp, and return to Quiswarani, where our transport will be waiting to take us back to Cusco.
