Workshops are open to every level, from beginners to professionals. Matt tailors the instruction to you: if you're new to manual shooting, we'll start with the fundamentals; if you're more experienced, we'll focus on refining your composition, your use of light, and your creative eye. All you need is a camera with manual settings and the curiosity to learn.
Workshops focus on landscape photography techniques: reading light and weather, composition in challenging environments, shooting at high altitude, long exposure techniques, focus stacking, and field post-processing workflow. We also cover how to scout locations and plan shoots independently. The goal is skills you can apply anywhere, not just getting one great shot.
Four participants maximum allows Matt to provide personalized instruction to each individual. You'll get direct feedback on your work, answers to your specific questions, and attention to your particular learning goals. Smaller groups also mean more time shooting and less time waiting.
You'll need a camera capable of manual operation, wide-angle lens (14-35mm range), sturdy tripod, and ideally a neutral density filter set. A laptop for the editing session is highly recommended. We provide a comprehensive gear list upon registration, and Matt can answer specific equipment questions before the workshop.
Yes. All workshop participants get access to a private online group where you can share work, ask questions, and get feedback from Matt for 3 months after the workshop. You'll also receive location scouting tips and shooting techniques guides relevant to the areas we covered.
Each workshop includes time to go through your images with Matt. These aren't just 'nice shot' sessions—we discuss what worked, what didn't, and how to improve. You're also welcome to bring earlier work you'd like feedback on.
Breakfast, lunch, and transport throughout the day are included. Workshops start and end in Urubamba, in the Sacred Valley, so you'll need to make your own way there and book your own accommodation for the night before. Dinner isn't included. Dietary restrictions can be accommodated with advance notice.
Workshops fill quickly due to the 4-person limit. We recommend booking 3-6 months in advance, especially for popular dates. Early booking also gives you more time to prepare, ask pre-workshop questions, and arrange travel at better rates.
